Peewee Playoffs The Kelowna Jr. Rockets faced Kamloops in the Peewee Tier 1 Division final. In Game 1 at Kamloops, the home team earned a 6-4 decision. Facing elimination the next day at home, Kelowna was no match for the visitors, dropping Game 2 by a 4-0 count. Kamloops advances to the provincial championship on Vancouver Island in March. In the Tier 3 Division, Kelowna earned a hard fought, 3-2, overtime decision in Game 1 against South Okanagan, before dropping Game 2 by a score of 3-1. In the third and final game, Kelowna managed a 4-1 victory and has now advanced to the 10-team provincial championship in Winfield.
Bantam Playoffs Kelowna faced Penticton in the Bantam Tier 1 final series, only to be swept in two games by scores of 5-1 and 5-4. Penticton advances to the provincials on the Lower Mainland, hosted by Seafair. In the Tier 3 Division, Kelowna played a solid road game to start the final series, winning by a score of 4-1. In the return match at Rutland Arena in Kelowna, the Jr. Rockets trounced Revelstoke 10-3. Kelowna has advanced to the provincials in Castlegar, March 7-12.
Midget Playoffs The Fripp Warehousing Jr. Rockets captured the Midget Tier 1 championship, sweeping Penticton in the league final series. Kelowna opened at home and posted a 7-3 win in Game 1. A week later in Penticton, the Jr. Rockets eked out a 5-4 road victory to win the best-of-three series. Next up for Kelowna is a trip to the Lower Mainland where Ridge Meadows will play host to the eight-team provincial championship, March 6 to 12. In the Midget Tier 2 division, the Jr. Rockets dropped the final series in two straight games to Westside. The series opened in Kelowna, where Westside waltzed into the Capital News Centre and earned a 4-2 win. A week later, Westside handed Kelowna a 5-2 defeat, thus advancing to the provincial championships in Cranbrook. In the Midget Tier 4 Division, Kelowna was swept by Chase by scores of 6-3 and 8-2. Chase advances to the provincial championship in Burns Lake. |
