More than 50 teams playing in seven different divisions took part in this year’s Ridge Meadows International Rep Tournament.
“Overall, I thought the tournament went very well. We had a lot of positive comments from people who attended,” says tournament director Brek Stewart.
The one positive Stewart was happy to hear about was the officiating.
“We had a lot of positive comments about the referees which you don’t usually hear, usually anytime anyone talks about referees they’re complaining about them.”
In the Bantam AAA division final, the hometown Ridge Meadows A1 Rustlers knocked off the Chilliwack Bruins 3-1 and in the Bantam A/B division final, the Langley Eagles beat the Ridge Meadows A2 Rustlers 3-2.
In the Midget AAA/AA division final, the Calgary Buffalo Hockey Association Rangers beat the Ridge Meadows Rustlers 2-0, in the Midget A/B final the Cloverdale Colts edged the Langley Eagles 5-4 and in the Midget B division final the Surrey Lightning shutout the Vancouver Spirit 5-0.
